Broken Spring Repair
Springs matched by measurement — essential on tall custom openings and heavy full-view glass doors, where a close-enough spring makes the door slam or drag.
Spring repair →Creve Coeur incorporated in 1949 and grew along Olive Boulevard as I-270 and Highway 40 went in. The result today is an unusual mix on the same street: original mid-century ranches with modest attached garages, sitting next to custom rebuilds with three bays and oversized openings. Those two houses need very different work.
Broken torsion springs, opener failures, frayed cables, worn rollers, bent track, off-track doors and damaged sections — plus two categories that show up here far more than the county average: custom-sized doors on rebuilt homes, and quiet-operation work on ranches where the garage sits under a bedroom.
We cover 63141 and 63146 — the Olive Boulevard corridor, the neighborhoods off Ballas Road, Craig Road, Old Bonhomme Road, Spoede Road, Mason Road and Conway Road, the streets around Millennium Park, Beirne Park and the Dielmann Recreation Complex, and the areas near Mercy Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital and the Danforth Plant Science Center.
The mid-century originals. A great many Creve Coeur houses are 1950s and 1960s ranches and split-levels on generous lots, built when a two-car attached garage was generous and a 16-foot opening was not standard. These doors are typically 8'x7' or 9'x7' singles, sometimes a pair of them, and a fair number are still running hardware that is functionally original — steel rollers with exposed bearings, dry hinges, track that has drifted out of plumb, and lift cables fraying quietly at the drum. On some of them you still find extension springs stretched along the upper tracks, and on a lot of those the safety containment cable that is supposed to run through each spring is missing. That cable is what stops a broken spring from crossing the garage. It is inexpensive and we fit it as part of any extension spring service.
These are also the houses where noise is the complaint. Creve Coeur ranches frequently put a bedroom over the attached garage, and the culprit is almost always worn steel rollers plus a door slightly out of balance so the opener is doing lifting it was never meant to do. Ten sealed-bearing nylon rollers, a genuine hand balance and proper lubrication is a startling improvement for the money.
The rebuilds. Creve Coeur has seen sustained teardown-and-rebuild activity, and the new houses come with garage elevations that bear no resemblance to their neighbors: three bays, 9- and 10-foot-tall openings to clear a lifted truck or a car lift, sometimes a single 18-foot span. That changes the job in three practical ways. First, taller openings need taller track and often a different spring drum, and the door has to be weighed or calculated rather than assumed. Second, heavy custom doors — full-view aluminum and glass, real wood overlay, insulated carriage panels with strap hardware — are frequently at the edge of what a builder-supplied spring set was sized for; get the wire size, inside diameter and length wrong and the door either slams or drags. Third, non-standard sizes are ordered, not stocked, so a damaged section on a custom door means lead time. We tell you that honestly at the quote rather than after you have committed.
Full-view glass doors. These have become common on Creve Coeur rebuilds and they behave differently from steel. They are heavier than they look, they need springs sized specifically to the glazing, and the anodized or powder-coated frames want different maintenance than a painted steel door. We service them; we just do not pretend they are the same product.
I-270, Olive Boulevard, Ladue Road and Lindbergh Boulevard put our trucks anywhere in 63141 and 63146 quickly — Creve Coeur is central to West County and easy for us to reach. Most calls placed in the morning are handled the same day, with broken springs and cars trapped in the garage taking priority; after hours we run 24/7 emergency dispatch. Two-hour arrival windows, a text with the technician’s name and photo when he’s en route, and the same flat rate as every other ZIP code in the metro. That last point is deliberate: an affluent address does not get quoted a different number here, and our technicians are not paid on commission, so nobody has a reason to talk you into a custom door when a $320 spring set solves it.

Spring repair →Creve Coeur ranches put bedrooms over the garage constantly. Ten sealed-bearing nylon rollers plus a real balance is the biggest noise reduction for the money.
Rollers & track →Custom and oversized openings, full-view aluminum and glass, carriage-house and insulated steel — measured properly and ordered with realistic lead times.
New doors →Wall-mount jackshaft openers keep the ceiling clear on tall custom bays; belt drives with battery backup are the quiet answer on a mid-century ranch.
Opener service →On a custom door a section swap can save thousands — if the model is still produced. If it isn’t, we tell you honestly and price both options.
Panel replacement →Our 25-point service balances, lubricates, torques the hardware and tests auto-reverse — cheap insurance on original mid-century hardware.

Prices are typical St. Louis-area ranges as of 2026 and vary by door size, spring cycle rating, hardware condition and access. Your exact price is quoted in writing before any work begins. See the full pricing page.
We also serve neighboring West County and north county: Chesterfield, Ballwin, Kirkwood and Florissant.
The City of Creve Coeur runs its own building department and contractor registration, separate from St. Louis County — and because Creve Coeur borders Town & Country, Ladue, Olivette and Maryland Heights, the rules genuinely differ within a few blocks. Replacing a door and hardware in the existing opening is treated differently from altering the opening, and any change to the header, the width or the height of the opening is structural work needing a permit and inspection. That last one matters here because raising an opening for a taller vehicle is a common Creve Coeur request. Check with the city before you order, or let us handle it.
Not a problem, but it is a different specification and worth getting right on paper before framing. Taller openings need taller vertical track, often a larger cable drum and a spring set calculated for the additional travel and the door’s actual weight. A wall-mount jackshaft opener is usually the better choice than a ceiling rail on a tall bay. Non-standard sizes are built to order rather than stocked, so plan for lead time — we give you a realistic date at the quote, not after you have committed.
In most Creve Coeur subdivisions, yes. The indentures on established West County subdivisions commonly require written approval from trustees or an architectural committee before you change the exterior appearance of the house, and the garage door is a big share of the front elevation — especially on a three-bay rebuild. Submit manufacturer, model, panel design, window layout and color before ordering; approval commonly runs a couple of weeks. We supply a spec sheet in the format trustees expect.
Yes, and they need to be treated as their own product rather than a steel door with windows. Full-view doors are heavier than they look, the spring set has to be sized to the specific glazing package, and the anodized or powder-coated frames want different care than painted steel. Cracked glazing panels are usually replaceable individually if the manufacturer still produces the profile. We will tell you plainly what is available before you spend anything.
Worn steel rollers with exposed bearings first, then a door out of balance so the opener is straining, then dry hinges and loose hardware. Ten sealed-bearing nylon rollers, a genuine hand balance and proper lubrication of the spring, bearings and hinges makes a striking difference on a mid-century Creve Coeur ranch. If the opener is an old chain drive, swapping to a belt drive removes the chain slap entirely.
No. We run one flat-rate price book across the entire metro, so the same repair costs the same in Creve Coeur as it does in Florissant or Wentzville. No ZIP code tax. Our technicians are also not paid on commission, which means nobody in your driveway has a financial reason to steer you toward a custom door when a spring set is the honest fix.
Two-hour arrival windows, a written flat-rate price before we start, and a parts-and-labor warranty on the invoice.
